The Problem

“I entered the mushroom portal world and immediately started burning. How do you survive in there?”

⚡ Before You Start

Complete Cascade Laboratories progression to unlock the Mycofields portal
Craft a Fire Proximity Suit for heat resistance
Craft head protection against spores: Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm

🎒 What to Bring

■Fire Proximity Suit (essential for heat)
■Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm (essential for spores)
■Healing items for the Tarasque encounter

Prerequisites

  • Complete Cascade Laboratories progression to unlock the Mycofields portal
  • Craft a Fire Proximity Suit for heat resistance
  • Craft head protection against spores: Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm

Recommended Loadout

  • Fire Proximity Suit (essential for heat)
  • Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm (essential for spores)
  • Healing items for the Tarasque encounter

Common Mistakes

  • 1.Entering with only a Hazmat Suit — it handles radiation but does nothing for the extreme heat
  • 2.Forgetting head protection and getting spore infection on top of heat damage
  • 3.Underestimating the Tarasque and attempting the fight undergeared

The Problem

I entered the mushroom portal world and immediately started burning. How do you survive in there?

The Solution

You walked into a lava-soaked fungi hellscape without the right gear. The Mycofields is accessed from the top floor of the containment lift in Cascade Labs. The environment is overwhelmingly hot with flowing lava everywhere, and multiple entities release infecting spores. You need two pieces of protection: a Fire Proximity Suit for the extreme heat damage, and head protection for the spore infection — a Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm all work. The main boss is the Tarasque, and it drops Tarasque Ichor when killed. The Mycofields is a major progression step before moving on to the Security Sector. Craft your head protection before entering, not after you are already coughing up spores.

Step-by-Step

  1. Enter the Mycofields through the portal in Cascade Labs' containment lift area — look for mushrooms.
  2. Equip the Fire Proximity Suit immediately — the environment has flowing lava and overwhelming heat damage.
  3. Wear head protection that blocks spore infection — this damage type is separate from heat.
  4. Prepare for the Tarasque encounter — bring strong weapon (see weapon guide)s and plenty of healing.
  5. Collect Tarasque Ichor and other fungi-related renewable materials.

Common Mistakes

  • Entering with only a Hazmat Suit (see armor guide) — it handles radiation but does nothing for extreme heat.
  • Forgetting head protection and getting spore infection on top of heat damage.
  • Underestimating the Tarasque and attempting the fight undergeared.
