First day survival: spawn to stable base in under one game-day

The first game-day is a sequence, not a sandbox. Talk to Dr. Thule, loot the Cafeteria, craft an Energy Brick, open the door, and build a base with a bed before anything else.

The Problem

“I just spawned in and everything wants to kill me. I do not even know where to put a bed down.”

⚡ Before You Start

Start a new game and understand the four survival needs: Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue, Bathroom.
Know that picking up items can give Ideas (silhouettes) that must be completed at a Crafting Bench.
Plan to build near a water source and power outlet.

🎒 What to Bring

■Energy Brick materials (1x Power Supply Unit, 1x Circuit Board, 1x Tech Scrap, 1x Case Fan)
■Sofa or Bed materials for a checkpoint/save point
■Storage Crate materials for organized loot

Prerequisites

  • Start a new game and understand the four survival needs: Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue, Bathroom.
  • Know that picking up items can give Ideas (silhouettes) that must be completed at a Crafting Bench.
  • Plan to build near a water source and power outlet.

Recommended Loadout

  • Energy Brick materials (1x Power Supply Unit, 1x Circuit Board, 1x Tech Scrap, 1x Case Fan)
  • Sofa or Bed materials for a checkpoint/save point
  • Storage Crate materials for organized loot

Common Mistakes

  • 1.Running off to explore before talking to Dr. Thule and unlocking the cafeteria door.
  • 2.Ignoring the Bathroom need until your character gets stuck on the toilet for extended time.
  • 3.Not building a Bed (checkpoint/save point) and losing all progress on death.

The Problem

I just spawned in and everything wants to kill me. I do not even know where to put a bed down.

The Solution

Spawn in the Cafeteria and talk to Dr. Thule on the bench immediately — he gives you the first objective and points you toward Dr. Jager. Loot everything you can find: scraps, materials, office supplies. Find the Storage room and dismantle the second vent to open a gate. Build a Crafting Bench (see Crafting Bench upgrades) near a power (see power system) plug and craft an Energy Brick (1x Power Supply Unit, 1x Circuit Board, 1x Tech Scrap, 1x Case Fan). Place the Energy Brick in the slot next to the locked cafeteria door to unlock it. Build your first base in Level One Office Space with a Bed (checkpoint/save — craft from Sofa recipe), Storage Crate, and powered Crafting Bench. The swimming pool area is an excellent first base: Water Cooler gives infinite water, Standing Lamp gives infinite light, and there is room for 4 pots and 2 portable stove (see cooking guide)s. Manage your four needs: Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue, and Bathroom.

Step-by-Step

  1. Spawn in Cafeteria and talk to Dr. Thule on the bench — he gives the first objective.
  2. Loot everything nearby: scraps, materials, office supplies from desks and cabinets.
  3. Find the Storage room and dismantle the second vent to open the gate.
  4. Build a Crafting Bench near a power plug and craft an Energy Brick from collected components.
  5. Place the Energy Brick in the slot next to the locked cafeteria door to unlock progression.
  6. Build a base in Level One Office Space or near the swimming pool with Bed, Storage Crate, and Crafting Bench.

Common Mistakes

  • Running off to explore before talking to Dr. Thule and unlocking the cafeteria door.
  • Ignoring the Bathroom need until your character gets stuck on the toilet for extended time.
  • Not building a Bed (checkpoint/save point) and losing all progress on death.
