Player Note: Vex Runner: The Exor drop table has a harvesting mechanic that isn't explained in-game. You kill the Exor, and then you need to harvest the corpse with a sharp weapon to get the full drop. I didn't know this for my first six kills. I was picking up a fraction of the available drops.
Community: Not knowing about the corpse-harvest mechanic is the most common Exor farming efficiency loss on Steam Discussions: most players describe discovering it after already farming multiple sessions without full drops, based on Steam Discussions.
Confirmed Exor drop table
| Item | Drop rate | Quantity |
|---|---|---|
| Raw Exor Heart | 100% | 1 |
| Exor Arm | 100% | 1 |
| Exor Quill | Guaranteed | 3 (minimum) |
| Exor Quill (additional) | 70% | 1-2 extra (maximum 5 total) |
| Raw Alien Drumstick | 50% | 0-1 |
| Bio Scrap | Harvestable | Variable |
Total maximum drop: 1 Raw Exor Heart, 1 Exor Arm, up to 5 Exor Quills, potentially 1 Raw Alien Drumstick, plus Bio Scrap.
The corpse-harvest mechanic
After killing an Exor, the corpse can be harvested with any sharp weapon (Kitchen Knife, Shiv, Makeshift Spear, or similar) to collect remains. The quality of remains depends on the weapon used.
Without harvesting, you only collect items that drop directly on death. The full drop table requires the harvest step.
Workflow:
- Kill the Exor
- Equip a sharp weapon
- Interact with the corpse to harvest
- Collect all drops including Bio Scrap
Exor variants
Standard Exor: Base drop table above. Nets are highly effective: a netted Exor cannot attack and can be killed safely.
Exor Monk: Teleports after laser attacks. Nets prevent the teleport. If you're fighting Exor Monks, carry nets or avoid laser-type weapons. Post-teleport positioning is unpredictable without a net to lock them down.
Armored Exor: Found in Hydroplant. Tougher variant with higher resource requirements to kill. The same drop table applies but with increased difficulty.
Spawn locations by efficiency
| Location | Exor type | Reset frequency | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mycofields | Standard + Armored | Twice weekly | Fire protection required; multiple spawns |
| Containment Block | Standard | Portal World schedule | Accessible mid-game |
| Various sectors | Standard patrols | Fixed spawn, no reset | Lower density; useful early |
For dedicated farming, Mycofields provides the highest density of Exor spawns per run, but requires full fire protection. See the Mycofields Survival Guide.
Choose the farming route by risk, not only density
The highest-density route is not always the best route for the current session. Use Mycofields when protection and extraction are ready. Use lower-density sector spawns when the goal is one guaranteed Heart or Arm and the player does not want to risk fire-zone recovery.
| Player state | Recommended route | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Needs one Heart or Arm | Any safe standard Exor route | The main part drops are guaranteed, so density matters less |
| Needs many Quills | Repeatable Exor cluster | Quill yield benefits from multiple kills |
| Needs Drumsticks | Longer route with exit margin | The 50% result needs extra attempts |
| Lacks fire protection | Avoid Mycofields | Density does not help if the route burns healing items |
| Farming Exor Monks | Carry nets or skip | Teleport behavior turns a clean farm into a chase |
This is the farming decision that matters most. A slow but safe route beats a fast route that ends with lost supplies.
Drop priority
If you're farming Exors for a specific item:
- Raw Exor Heart and Exor Arm: 100% drop: one kill per item needed
- Exor Quills: Minimum 3 per kill, up to 5: efficient to farm in bulk since variance is low
- Raw Alien Drumstick: 50%: plan for 2x kills per drumstick needed on average
Expected yield per farming session
Planning guide for session targets:
| Target item | Expected kills needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 Raw Exor Heart | 1 | 100% drop |
| 1 Exor Arm | 1 | 100% drop |
| 5 Exor Quills | 1-2 kills | 3 guaranteed + 70% for 1-2 more |
| 1 Raw Alien Drumstick | ~2 kills average | 50% per kill |
| 10 Exor Quills | 3-4 kills | Plan conservatively |
Farming session setup
Before a dedicated Exor farming run:
- Confirm protection gear for the target portal world (Mycofields requires fire resistance)
- Carry nets if farming Exor Monks: prevents teleport and allows clean kills
- Have a sharp weapon ready for corpse harvesting after each kill
- Know your exit condition: number of target items or supply threshold, whichever comes first
Kill-to-harvest sequence
Treat every Exor as two actions: kill, then harvest. If the second step is forgotten, the route loses value even if the combat went well.
- Start the fight in a known retreat lane.
- Net or control the Exor if the variant can disrupt positioning.
- Kill the Exor without walking deeper into a new spawn area.
- Switch to the sharp harvesting weapon immediately.
- Harvest the corpse before looting unrelated containers.
- Deposit rare drops before adding optional objectives to the run.
The order prevents the common mistake where a player wins the fight, chases more loot, then leaves without the corpse harvest that made the kill valuable.
Exor Quills use cases
Exor Quills are among the most useful Exor drops due to the consistent yield. Common uses:
| Use | Priority |
|---|---|
| Anomaly-tier crafting recipes | High: check your current crafting queue |
| Trade with NPCs | Medium: check trader inventories |
| Stockpile for future recipes | Low: only after immediate needs are met |
Farm Exor Quills in bulk when you have the opportunity. The 70% chance for extra drops means variance is manageable: most kills yield 4-5 quills.
Corpse harvesting tool selection
The wiki notes that the quality of remains obtained depends on the weapon used for harvesting. Practical guidance:
| Weapon type | Harvest quality | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen Knife | Standard | Available early; reliable baseline |
| Shiv | Standard | Craftable early |
| Makeshift Spear | Standard | Works; slightly less convenient |
| Higher-tier sharp weapons | Potentially better | Use your best available sharp weapon |
Keep a dedicated harvesting weapon in your loadout on Exor farming runs. Switching from your combat weapon to a sharp weapon after each kill adds one extra step but ensures you get the full drop table including Bio Scrap.
Session stop rules
Stop the run when the target drop is secured, when the sharp harvesting weapon is low, or when healing reserves fall below the amount needed to extract. Exor farming becomes inefficient when the player keeps adding objectives after the main material is already in inventory.
| Stop signal | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Target item obtained | The current bottleneck is solved |
| Healing reserve below exit margin | One extra kill can turn into a corpse run |
| Inventory is nearly full | Rare drops may compete with low-value clutter |
| Harvesting weapon durability is low | Future kills may lose the second drop step |
Bank the materials first. Return for a second route after repairs and storage cleanup.
