GATE SUV activation: Hotwire Kit recipe, seven locations, and 30-slot cargo

Verify the SUV Hotwire Kit, find one of seven documented GATE SUV locations, test the road, and use four seats and 30 cargo slots without inventing a safe route.

Verify access and road suitability before using the largest cargo vehicle. Source basis: the references listed on this page, checked for game version 1.4. This original planning diagram is not to scale and is not copied game or wiki media.

The GATE SUV is the largest cargo carrier in the reviewed facility vehicle set. It has four seats and 30 inventory slots in the cargo space at the back. It is not craftable or packable. A found SUV must be activated with Hotwire Kit (SUV) before it can be driven.

The capacity does not make it automatically better than a Tram, Security Cart, or Forklift. The correct SUV must be reachable, the specific Hotwire Kit must be available, and the road must connect the vehicle to the unload point without a stair barrier. This page turns those requirements into a checkable activation plan.

The vehicle page describes moderate protection for occupants, but that wording is not a measured damage-reduction value. Do not convert it into an armor percentage or assume the SUV makes players immune to attacks.

Prerequisites: craft the SUV Hotwire Kit

The current Hotwire Kit (SUV) item page lists this Crafting Bench recipe:

IngredientQuantity
Car Battery Charger1
Power Cell1
Coil Winding4
Tech Scrap8

The result is one Hotwire Kit (SUV). It weighs six and activates a GATE SUV. Hotwire Kit (Security Cart) is a separate recipe and cannot be substituted.

Before carrying the kit away from base:

  1. Check the exact item name.
  2. Confirm the chosen SUV landmark belongs to an area already accessible in the current save.
  3. Decide what 30-slot job justifies the activation.
  4. Identify a road-compatible unload point.
  5. Keep the kit in inventory until the actual SUV interaction is confirmed.

If the live recipe differs from the table, follow the Crafting Bench display. The page records the reviewed source state, not a guarantee against a later patch.

Seven documented SUV locations

The reviewed SUV entry lists seven vehicles across five areas.

AreaDocumented landmark
Security SectorVehicle depot beyond Security Door 02
HydroplantPast the first tower on the main road, below a streetlamp
HydroplantFar end of the sector, at the end of the waterfall bridge
ReactorsGarage beside the road toward Dusk Reactor
ReactorsRoad toward Gale Reactor, left of the truck with fire underneath
Residence SectorInside the main building, on the roadway bridge toward Hydroplant
AlbatrossIn front of the GATE Facility building

These are recognition landmarks. They do not establish a guaranteed unlocked path, enemy state, or travel time. If a vehicle is missing, check whether it was moved in the current save and use the relevant recall behavior before assuming the spawn data is incorrect.

Select the right SUV before spending the kit

Choose by cargo origin and destination rather than by the earliest SUV name in the list.

Security Sector vehicle depot

The vehicle depot SUV is a candidate only after Security Door 02 and the route to the depot are available. Before activation, inspect the road leading from the depot to the intended storage or transfer point. The source does not say the door is automatically open or that the route is safe.

Hydroplant choices

Hydroplant has one SUV near the first tower road and another at the far end by the waterfall bridge. A job near the entrance may favor the first landmark, while cargo already collected near the far bridge may favor the second. That is an editorial distance decision. Verify both the vehicle and the road in the current world before choosing.

Reactors choices

One SUV is in the garage near the Dusk Reactor road. The other is on the Gale Reactor road, left of a truck with fire underneath it. Pick the vehicle already on the side of the transport job. Do not drive an empty SUV across a hazardous area simply to use the first one found.

Residence and Albatross

The Residence SUV is listed on the main-building roadway bridge toward Hydroplant. The Albatross SUV is in front of the GATE Facility building. These entries confirm vehicle locations, but a portal-world vehicle should not be treated as if it automatically supports the same facility network as a vehicle parked in Residence. Verify where the vehicle can actually travel before loading it.

Step-by-step activation procedure

  1. Approach the documented landmark with Hotwire Kit (SUV) in inventory.
  2. Confirm the interaction belongs to a GATE SUV rather than a Security Cart.
  3. Inspect the immediate road and rear cargo access.
  4. Use the SUV kit to make the vehicle drivable.
  5. Enter the right-hand driver position and test steering without cargo.
  6. Open the rear storage and verify its 30 available slots.
  7. Drive to the first planned turn, ramp, or transfer point and return empty.
  8. Load priority cargo only after the test proves the road is usable.

An empty test is worth the extra minute. It catches an unsuitable turn, stair, or blocked unload point before 30 slots of materials are involved.

Plan the 30-slot cargo space

The SUV has the most cargo slots among the reviewed vehicles, but completely filling it can make unloading and recovery harder. Assign the load before players begin adding items.

Cargo blockPurposePlanning rule
Delivery itemsMaterials required at the destinationLoad only after the destination is named
Route equipmentTools needed for the drive and unloadKeep accessible rather than buried under return loot
Return allowanceExpected pickups on the way backLeave these slots empty at departure
Recovery marginUnexpected key or split stackProtect at least one planned space

The numbers within each block depend on the job. The hard limit is the documented 30 slots. Use the Vehicle Route Planner to reject a lower-capacity option before preparing this load.

When a smaller vehicle or Tram is better

An SUV activation consumes a dedicated kit. If the job needs 18 slots and runs between two active tram stations, the Tram may solve it without that item. A solo 24-slot road haul may fit a Forklift if a Power Cell is already available. A four-player road trip with 18 or fewer cargo slots may fit a Security Cart.

These comparisons do not rank the vehicles globally. They preserve activation materials by matching the smallest available option to the current job. Review the complete vehicle comparison before using a rare component only to gain unused capacity.

Terrain and recall boundaries

The Vehicles page says vehicles can use ramps and cannot drive up stairs. The SUV's size also makes an unloading area important even where a road continues. Park without blocking the route that players need to move cargo by hand.

Fixed recall objects return a vehicle to its designated spawn location. Recall is not a command that brings the SUV to the player. If local pushing or righting does not recover it, remove critical cargo when practical and expect to retrieve the SUV from its assigned return point.

The source does not provide a universal promise for every stored-item edge case during recall. Removing irreplaceable cargo first is conservative editorial guidance.

Risks and failure recovery

FailureResponse
The kit is rejectedVerify that it is Hotwire Kit (SUV), not Hotwire Kit (Security Cart)
The SUV is absentCheck team movement and the designated recall point for that save
A locked door blocks the approachKeep the kit and resume after normal progression opens the area
Stairs interrupt the roadEstablish a vehicle-to-hand-carry transfer point
The load exceeds 30 slotsRemove lower-priority cargo or schedule another trip
The SUV becomes stuckUnload critical items, try local recovery, then use the fixed recall system
The source location differs from the live buildFollow the current game state and record the discrepancy instead of inventing a replacement location

Completion check

SUV activation is complete when the correct kit has been accepted, the driver can control the vehicle, and the rear 30-slot storage opens. The transport job is complete when the named cargo reaches its storage destination and the SUV is parked or recalled to a recoverable place.

Do not measure success by whether every slot was filled. The useful outcome is a verified road delivery that saved trips without risking the activation item, the cargo, or the party on a route the source never promised was safe.

Sources & References

The SUV's four seats, 30 cargo slots, activation item, cargo access point, and seven locations come from the reviewed GATE SUV page. The Hotwire Kit ingredients come from its current item page. Terrain and recall boundaries come from Vehicles. Planning steps are editorial safeguards.
