Prerequisites for Lab Sector Entry

Before entering the Lab Sector, confirm the following items and conditions are met. The Labs introduce ambient radiation and more aggressive enemy types that punish unprepared players.

Required gear:

  • Hazmat Suit or equivalent radiation protection (90% radiation reduction from full-durability suits)
  • Minimum 2 Iodine Tablets (removes -10 radiation, grants 50% resistance for 15 minutes)
  • Radiation Soup (timed resistance layer that stacks with suit protection)
  • Full healing supplies (Medkits or bandages)
  • Level 3 keycard or higher

Recommended preparation:

  • Repair all armor at an Enhancement Bench before entry

Laser Puzzle Workflow

Laser puzzles in the Adjustment Wing require aligning beams by both angle and color. Common failure occurs when players validate only one parameter.

Step-by-step puzzle resolution:

  1. Assess the puzzle room before touching any beam. Identify the target receiver and note its color requirement.
  2. Set beam angle first. Rotate mirrors until the beam visually connects to the receiver path.
  3. Validate beam color. If the beam color does not match the receiver, adjust the color filter before confirming alignment.
  4. Test the connection. If the door does not open, check both angle and color again: one may have shifted during adjustment.
  5. If the puzzle fails: Stop immediately. Do not chain attempts.

Failure recovery procedure:

  • Heal to full health using your Briefcase or Medkits
  • Repair Hazmat Suit if it took damage during the attempt
  • Re-assess the puzzle from a fresh perspective
  • Re-attempt with full resources

The puzzle has no time limit. Radiation resistance is the only timer. Pushing through multiple attempts with depleted health and damaged gear leads to death from ambient radiation while solving.

Cryo-Lab Section

The Cryo-Lab contains Liquid Nitrogen routes and equipment recharge loops. Temperatures here do not require special gear beyond the Hazmat Suit, but enemies move faster and deal more damage than standard Lab patrols.

Key objectives in Cryo-Lab:

  • Locate the recharge station before committing to Nitrogen-heavy routes
  • Identify Liquid Nitrogen sources for advanced chemistry recipes (cooling, isotope handling)
  • Map enemy patrol patterns: melee enemies here have shorter reaction windows

Route priority: Explore the recharge station first. Without it, equipment that uses Liquid Nitrogen cannot be refilled mid-route, forcing early retreats.

Mini-Collider and Isotope Handling

The Mini-Collider produces Unstable Isotopes for endgame crafting. This equipment requires specific setup to avoid radiation spread and power failures.

Setup requirements:

  • Power isolation: Place the Collider on its own Industrial Battery branch (100 charge minimum). This prevents the Collider from draining power from food storage or defense circuits.
  • Storage preparation: Have a Lead-lined Crate ready before production begins. Unstable Isotopes spread radiation to adjacent items in regular storage.
  • Production cycle: Start production, then leave the area. Standing near the Collider during operation exposes you to unnecessary radiation.
