Royal Range route: hacker access, cold preparation, crowns, and exit
Plan a Royal Range visit around confirmed access requirements, cold protection, crown progression, combat pressure, and extraction.
Original exploration route
Provide a sourced planning route rather than a copied map. Source basis: the references listed on this page, checked for game version 1.4. This original planning diagram is not to scale and is not copied game or wiki media.
Route scope
Royal Range combines a late access requirement, environmental preparation, and an objective that can encourage players to overextend. This page organizes those confirmed facts into a staged visit. It does not reproduce the map and it does not claim that every crown or enemy can be handled in one run.
Go or no-go checks
| Gate | Confirm before entry | Failure response |
|---|---|---|
| Access | Required hacker tier and current portal route | Finish the access chain first |
| Cold | Protection matches the current Cold source | Do not substitute healing for protection |
| Crown objective | The next required crown location is understood | Choose one crown branch only |
| Combat | Loadout can handle the documented enemies | Preserve ammunition and a retreat route |
The Royal Range page is authoritative for the current crown requirement. Check it before publishing or following a fixed count from an older patch.
Staged route
- Confirm the hacker access and cold equipment at base.
- Enter with protected inventory space for crown-related progression.
- Establish the first stable landmark and the way back to the portal.
- Choose the next crown branch instead of sweeping every visible structure.
- Return to the anchor after securing the branch result.
- Extract when cold protection, healing, or combat reserve falls below the amount needed for another known encounter.
The objective is reliable progress. A second clean visit is preferable to losing a crown or route-critical equipment during an optional detour.
Environmental and combat decisions
Cold is a continuous route constraint, not a single doorway check. Reassess protection after combat, after long navigation delays, and before starting a new branch. Stomp-capable enemies documented for the area also make cramped or unclear retreat paths dangerous; fight where the return remains visible rather than chasing an enemy deeper into the route.
In co-op, give the progression item to the player whose return path and protection are most stable, not automatically to the player who collected it.
Failure recovery
- The hacker route is blocked. Resolve access before consuming cold supplies on repeated attempts.
- Cold becomes the active failure. Retreat and correct the loadout; do not stretch the route with food or healing alone unless the source documents it.
- The next crown branch is uncertain. Return with the current crown rather than searching by elimination while exposed.
- Combat pulls the group off-route. Regroup at the last named landmark and restore the original branch plan.
Completion condition
A successful visit obtains the selected progression result, preserves the return route, and leaves enough information to choose the next branch. Use the Residence cold route to review general cold preparation, and the late-game equipment checklist if the problem is overall readiness rather than Royal Range navigation.
Track crowns without turning the route into a guess
Use the current objective and Crown source to record which crown has been secured, its confirmed branch landmark, and whether it was extracted. Do not write "one remaining" from memory after a group session; compare the live objective state before selecting the next branch. A simple checklist prevents the group from repeating a dangerous cold route for an already completed step.
Each crown run should have a cold budget and a combat budget. The cold budget is the protection and recovery needed to reach the branch and return. The combat budget is ammunition, weapon condition, and healing reserved for documented threats. Stop when either budget reaches its retreat point, even if the other is still healthy.
In co-op, keep the crown carrier between the route caller and rear player during withdrawal. The fastest player should not automatically carry the item if their role takes them away from the confirmed return path. Regroup at the last warm or stable landmark before beginning another branch.
After the visit, update the branch record with the access gate, environmental failure, and exact source checked. If a major patch changes the crown requirement, preserve the route landmarks that still exist but revise the count and completion statement. This maintains useful navigation without manufacturing false freshness or keeping an obsolete progression total.
Separate access from cold readiness
A solved hacker gate does not make the environmental route safe, and a complete cold loadout does not open an unresolved access gate. Track those states in separate columns before departure. The route begins only when both are ready for the selected branch.
On return, mark whether the failure came from access, navigation, combat, cold, or carrying capacity. Change the relevant preparation only. This keeps one bad attempt from producing an unsupported claim that every Royal Range visit needs more of every resource.
Common Mistakes
| Mistake | Why it happens | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| Entering without confirming hacker tier | Player remembers an old access state | Check the current gate requirement at base before spending cold supplies |
| Substituting healing for cold protection | Medkits are easier to carry than cold gear | Cold is continuous damage; healing delays death but does not stop the drain |
| Chasing a second crown branch after completing one | Progress feels close, so the player extends | Extract after each branch; a clean second visit is safer than an overextended first |
| Fastest player carries the crown | Speed feels like safety | Give the crown to the player with the most stable return path and cold budget |
| Ignoring combat budget while cold budget is fine | Cold meter looks healthy | Track ammo, weapon durability, and healing separately from cold protection |
| Fighting deeper into unknown rooms | Enemy retreated past a corner | Hold the last known landmark; pulling the group off-route risks the crown |
| Relying on memory for crown count | Previous session ended with "one left" | Compare the live objective state before selecting the next branch |
| No warm landmark identified before branching | Rush to the objective skips preparation | Mark the last warm or stable spot on entry; regroup there before each branch |
